The Indian Village
in the Jungle
The Secoya Indians were great hosts as we visited their
jungle village. This tribe still lives in traditional thatched
huts, built well above the expected high water levels. But the
modern world intrudes, such as the device in this picture for
converting sunlight into electricity.
How the Secoya dress shows the direction in which things
are moving. The older man on the left is wearing
traditional garb. Not so for the younger man in shorts.
Inside a hut I found this odd couple, both of whom
were pets. The cat's playmate is a Clown Monkey.
