Thracian Tomb-Reproduction
Kazanlak, Romania
Entrance to the reproduction of a 4th century BC Thracian
Tomb next door, a World Heritage Site. No damage to the
original is possible if tourists visit a copy. This was my
introduction to the ancient civilization of Thrace, part of
Greece during the classical period and today.
The impressive artwork tended towards a focus upon the
military. Horses suggest a strong cavalry.
Thracian chariots must have been another strong force.
Infantry without a doubt, shields and various weapons.
Blow trumpets for the ancient military power of Thrace.
