Shanghai Children's Palace
and Circus
Visiting a Children's Palace is part of every tour. They
conduct after school programs that include traditional
Chinese instruments, plus typing and other useful skills.
She played really well, but what do I know? You
can listen to the video and decide for yourself.
Same for this boy on a much larger instrument.
He sounded great to me. Other students learn how
to play the accordion, which I doubt is Chinese.
The circus is another Shanghai tradition. She
is performing a young girl's contortionist act.
Real lions will not balance upon a giant ball. But it still
takes great skill for the people in these lion costumes.
